PROPOSED PROJECTS
Many people who either have been to Romania, or have heard about the needs there are concerned about how they can help. We get notes and e-mails on a regular basis asking, "How can we be involved?" Therefore, we have composed a list of projects, both large and small, that we deem worthy of support. If you or your Bible Study group would like to be involved in any of the projects below, please contact us. We can talk with you and help you decide on a level of giving that is comfortable.
1. The LARGEST PROJECT we are involved with right now is helping to purchase a piece of property in Nevrincea which will be used to establish a Bible church. This property can be bought for $6,000. Since it would be used as a church, no tax would be levied on it. So far, two ABF classes have indicated a desire to be involved in this project.
2. The PRIMARY FOCUS of MISSION CONNECT is to provide a livable salary for around fourteen young ministers with whom we are connected. The cost of living in Romanian villages is now around $3,600 a year. We have several ministers who are living on half that - or even less. If we provide their wages, the preachers can focus on doing their church work. For $300. per month a man can live comfortably (but not luxuriously) and support his family. We presently need funds for :
a. A newly graduated preacher for two villages.(Secucani)
b. The preacher at Nadraq, a town of 3,500 with an unemployment rate of 85%.Jacob needs$150 a month.Nadrag has potential for becoming a thriving town once again. We long to see the church there keep up with the potential for growth.
c. Others who are only receiving half what they need.
3. We also have projects that only require a one-time gift.
a. The annual Ministerial Conference, held in March for ministers and their wives, costs a total of $4,000. This covers travel expenses for the ministers, their room and board, and any materials we use. This is a one-of-a-kind conference, staffed by Christians from the U.S. who have expertise in some area of church development. (IDES and many churches had funded this conference.)
b. Nurses' Scholarships: For $90. per month a young person can train to become a Christian nurse. Their school year is 10-months long.
c. Ministerial Scholarships: For the same cost as the nurses, $90. per month, young men can study for the ministry either in Bucharest or in Oradea.
d. We also have ongoing animal projects that require different levels of funding:
1. Milk Cow -- $1,100.
2. Heifer to raise -- $300.
3. Milk Goat--$125.
4. Sheep -- $100.
5. Young pigs to raise -- $125.00
e. Translators; Without these, we would be totally ineffective in Romania! The average cost for one translator for the time we are there costs around $200.
f. Dental Clinic Supplies: toothbrushes, metal for fillings/caps, drill bits, germicidal cleaners, Novocain, cotton, Christian literature, and general items that make volunteer dental service easier and quicker.
We need designated gifts for this new specialized area of reaching Romanians through the developing Good Shepherd Dental Clinic north of Arad.,
