Hello Friends,
We’re back from
Romania
for the second time this spring.
Thanks for all your prayers.
Here are the ways that we saw
God at work, as we obeyed.
April 12th – Travel
safety.
All of us made our flights. Although storms delayed some of the
flights leaving
America,
the last three team members made
it to Munich
just as we were boarding for
Romania.
They jogged through the airport;
you prayed; we all made it on
the same flight. Amazingly, all
our luggage made it within 24
hrs. SO, we were prepared
to get to work!
April 13th –
The idea of having a clinic the
first evening didn’t go over too
well. But….we made up for
on Saturday evening when all the
staff from the Precept Center
where we stay brought their
children and spouses in for
medical care, new scarves,
gloves, tooth brushes, paste,
pencils, handkerchiefs, and
reading glasses (if they needed
them). There were smiles
all around that evening.
April 14th – 16th- The first three days of clinics went smoothly. The team members
worked together well. On
Friday and Saturday, we had a
wonderful Romanian Pediatrician
work with us. She had such
a heart for children! We
also had a Romanian dental team
on Saturday. Who would
have thought people would be SO
glad to have a tooth pulled! We
worked long hours, and gave our
best. May all the praise
and glory go to God alone. (We
Obey; God Accomplishes.)
April 17th was Psalm
Sunday -
I can honestly say that we all participated
in a moving service. The
Romanians take this day very
seriously! I can’t
remember when I’ve heard “The
Holy
City” sung by a tenor
soloist with a choral
background. Absolutely
hair-raising! Jerry
preached a sermon that even he
says was God-inspired.
(Mary’s comment: Only
Jerry Sweitzer could take the
triumphant entry into Jerusalem and make it into
a stewardship sermon! It was
great.) What a blessing to
worship with our international
brothers, and to sing songs
together in our own languages.
It was a taste of heaven.
April 18th – 19th.
We had two more days of travel and clinics. As I gave out
reading glasses at the end of
the clinic line, I enjoyed the
smiles of people who suddenly
were able to read again.
One 86-year old man brought his
hymnal and sang two songs for
us, reading the words with his
new glasses. Humbling!
Our doctors and nurses saw a
total of
935 patients,
many of whom had several
children along with them.
This surely sets a record for
our teams!
April 20th – 21st:
The end of the trip was meaningful as well. We met as a team
and discussed what kind of
impact all that we had seen had
had on our lives. We gave
out certificates of appreciation
this year to all the
participants. This year
marked our 10th year
of doing Medical Mission Trips
to
Romania.
Our last ˝ day we spent in
Timisoara
doing the town in a number of
ways. Our flight home was
early, early, early. All of us
made it home safely, and
hopefully by now, have rejoined
the human race!
Thank you once again for being
part of this mission trip
through your prayers. We
value your contributions to this
effort!
